In between servings of sangria and salads, the trio of ‘outsiders’ (who’ve each been warmly embraced by Bollywood since their breakout) could be heard sharing stories about the strange experiences they’ve been having with film folk. They also indulged in some harmless gossip, specifically about a pair of young actors who’re being launched in an ambitious remake of a recent Marathi hit.

The trio made observations that the second- generation star-kid looked older than the sibling of a top star that she’s starring opposite, and that the young fella should’ve waited before rushing into the movies.

I’ve heard the professional conduct of at least two popular casting directors being seriously discussed at recent gatherings. Two former assistants of one influential casting head revealed that their jobs involved “cleaning up” after their boss had “had her way” with some young hopeful. They described the said big shot’s appetite for strapping young fellas as an “open secret”. The second casting director, I was informed, had a habit of sending messages to young women he was professionally mentoring,asking them to come for “meetings” late at night. He was infamous among cinema strugglers for showering extra attention on women who were “pliable”.

From what one has been given to understand, these examples are a drop in the ocean when it comes to exploitation in tinsel town. The fear of taking names remains one of the reasons that culprits aren’t taken to task. But in a landscape where men openly accused of crossing the line continue to go about their lives without fear of consequence, it’s hard to say when ‘time’s up’ will be called for sexual misconduct in Bollywood.

It seems the actor has had trouble shedding weight, despite his gruelling gym routines and severe diets. Moreover, he is also knockkneed, a condition that is scientifically called genu valgum, wherein the knees tilt toward each other when standing straight. While we hope the actor gets fitter and healthier soon, but what do we do about his histrionics?

Rajeev Masand’s latest blind item is about a bitchy director.
This bitchy director had managed to impress many with his skills. He directed & starred in a bonafide indie hit. He followed that up with several other indie hits. His success proved that audiences value content over stars. Sadly his movies started flopping & he was out of circulation. He has recently made a comeback of sorts. His recently made some critically acclaimed movies. What few know is that he was pursuing his MS in the US & left his cushy job for his true calling – directing movies.
There were rumors that he has been living in with his co-producer of many movies. She regularly features in his movies. But it seems they both don’t believe in the institution of marriage. The producer mentioned in the blind item on the other hand is rumored to have relationships with her female actors.

A well-known indie filmmaker who’s delivered a steady stream of ‘small’ films over the years was signed on to direct an ambitious web series for a top producer’s new online platform. It was an association that would benefit both parties. For the infamously controlling producer, working with a fiercely independent director would no doubt boost her street cred; for the filmmaker, it was just the kind of A-list ‘studio project’ that would look good on his CV.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. After considerable work on the project, which was originally conceptualised by the producer herself, the director reportedly ditched the gig citing “creative differences”. It put a lot of people in a difficult spot—including the star of the series, a promising indie actress who’d taken the job only to work with the director. But much of the shoot was already underway, and the producer quickly recruited a new director to keep the show running. For a while it seemed like things were okay.

Now with the show having recently launched and making quite a splash (the influential producer knows a thing or two about drumming up buzz), the estranged director has been telling anyone who’s willing to listen that what you see is his work, sadly uncredited. He’s been claiming everything people are praising about the show is his work; what’s ‘meh’ is the mess that was made after his departure. Word seems to have reached the producer, who sniggered at his claims. Sources say the director is especially cheesed off because he wasn’t paid commensurate to the work he’d put in, and was actually threatened by the producer to walk away quietly or be prepared to have ‘the pants sued off him’.

She has been credit with discovering gifted, talented actors. One of her finds is now a bonafide superstar. But she should stop herself from bragging about her conquests.
